Grows along the banks of the Ganges and in Southern India. It is waste land weed.
Uses :
Colic and tormina, amenorrhoea, dysmenorrhoea, tedious labour, intermittent fever and worms.
How to Use:
An infusion prepared from about 1/2 an ounce of the dried plant in 10 ozs. of water is regared as anthelmintic and emmenagogue. Dose 1 to 2 ozs. Powdered dry root (f 1-2 drachms) will increase the contractions of uterns during labour and is used in sind as a substitute for ergot. Given with castor oil in colic and tormina, amenorrhoea, dysmenorrhoea, tedious labour, intermittent fever and worms. Also given in cases of syphilis, gonorrhoea and skin diseases. Antidote to snake-poison.
