description & usage
Mountainous districts of India extending in the North West Himalayas as far as the Jhelum ; and common all over Bengal and Southern India ; Burma. It is a medium sized tree with compound leaves, each leaf compressing three leaf lets. Flowers appear in February to March month. The fruit is a flat pod having a single seed.
Uses :
Diarrhoea, Dysentery, Phthisis, Ringworm, Catarrh, Cold and cough.
How to Use:
Take 30 to 40grains of the gum is useful in cases of phthisis and haemorrhage from the stomach and bladder. Solution of the grain is applied to bruises and erysipelatous inflammations, ringworms etc., as an astringent application. Fresh juice is also applied to ulcers and relaxed, congested and septic sore throat ; internally it is given in diarrhoea, dysentery and phthisis. Externally the powder is a remedy for ringworm ; it may be applied as paste being pounded with lemon juice ; also for herpes. Water in which flower are boiled is given internally with nitre added in cases of difficult micturution in 1/2 to 1 ounce doses. Bark into pieces, mixed with sugar-candy and chewed relieves abnormal thirst.
