The drug called botanically Cedrus deodora. The wood is balsamic, oily, fragrant, heavy, hard, nonporous and slightly bitter and contains aromatic oil, gum and cholestrin. Normally found in temperate region. It is diuretic, diaphoretic, carminative. Used in the treatment of fever, flatulence, pulmonary and urinary disorders, rheumatism, piles, urinary calculi, skin diseases, ulcers and dysentry.
