A common weed found all over the plains of India and plentifully in Bengal, and the Gangetic valley.
Uses :
Round worms, chronic painful joints, earache.
How to Use:
As anthelmintic they are used in doses of from 10 grains or 1/2 to 1 drachm in powder with sugar twice a day for two days and then followed by a dose of castor oil ; they are specially useful in cases of round worms. Seeds ground into poultice or paste or being bruised with vinegar, lime-juice or lime-water or hot water are applied as counter irritant, for their rubefacient action in chronic painful joints. Juice is given in small quantities freely diluted with water and acts as a sudorific in fevers.
