EUPHORBIA HIRTA
description & usage
It is a slender-stemmed, annual, hairy, much branched herb. The leaves are opposite, toothed along the margin. The flowers are very small in size and present in the axils of the leaves. Seeds are very tiny, reddish with a wrinkled surface. Normally found on grass lands and waste lands.
Uses:
Cough, chronic dysentery, asthma, ringworm, abdominal pains, skin diseases, eye diseases.
How to Use:
This is a popular remedy for cough, coryza, hayasthma, bronchial affections and diseases of the respiratory passages generally, also given for worm, bowel-complaints and as paste with sugar in gonorrhoea and other venereal diseases. Tincture of the drug was given in 15 to 30 drops in cases of asthma and bronchitis in the hospital with very beneficial effect. Locally it is applied for the cure of ringworm. The juice of the plant is used for acute abdominal pains. The root is good for snake bites. The milky juice is dropped in the eye in general eye diseases.
