This tree is indigenous to India and cultivated in many varieties almost everywhere in the plains and gardens.
Uses:
Asthma, diarrhoea, chronic dysentery, hematemesis, menorrhagia, leucorrhoea, bleeding piles, round worms, etc.,
How to Use:
A confection prepared out of the ripened fruit, by addition of sugar and aromatics, is a nice restorative tonic. Juice of the unripened fruit is applied to cracks in the sole or heal caused by cold. Ground the rind with milk and add little honey is given in bleeding dysentery.
In case of asthma, diarrhoea, chronic dysentery, hematemesis, menorrhagia, leucorrhoea, bleeding piles, round worms, etc., powdered kernel is given ( 20 to 30 grains) with or without honey. The kernel is fried and given to pregnant women who is suffering from diarrhoea. Juice of the kernel is sniffed to stop nasal bleedding. Juice of the bark 4 tolas mixed with 1 tola of lime water given for seven days is a sovereign remedy in acute gonorrhoea. Tender leaves dried and made into a powder are useful in diabetes. Gum of the tree is applied to cracked feet.
