MIMOSA PUDICA
description & usage
This sensitive shrub, a native of Brazil, has long been naturalized and is plentiful in the warm regions of India ; grows wild as a weed in certain parts of the West Coast of India, in Mysore and Coorg. The sensitive plant is spreading type shrub ,stems are branched with bristly hairs. The leaves are small leaflets on a stalk, and when touched they fold together. The flower are small ,numerous, pink, and pods are curved and numerous.
Uses:
Piles and fistula, fistulous sores, hip and kidneys, constipation, dysentery, skin diseases, glandular swellings, urinary complaints, mumps.
How to Use:
Infusion of leaves is also used in 1/2 to 1 ounce for liver diseases, dysentery, kidney problems, constipation. Leaves and root in powdered form are given 2 drachms in milk in cases of piles and fistula. Juice is applied externally in fistulous sores, piles and scorpion-sting. Juice of the leaves is used to impregnate cotton wool for dressing in any form of sinus. Leaves are employed as a bath in the pains of the hip and kidneys.
