This is an artificial salt prepared by dissolving sodium chloride to saturation in a saturated solution of sodium carbonate. On evaporation the slat is recovered. According to Chunekar, Sochal salt contains, sodium chloride, soda sulf and Sodium hydroxide and does not contain sodium carbonate. The salt is carminative and laxative. Probably several methods are employed for its preparation.
